DAY AT CAMP
Each student picks 2 artistic disciplines. Our camp day begins at 10 am with the first discipline, followed by a camp provided lunch. After lunch students engage in fun team and community building activities. The day concludes with a class in their second artistic discipline finishing at 2 pm. Both Fridays are elective days featuring pottery, acting, painting, and various other inspirational activities. REGISTRATION REQUIRED
A CLOSER LOOK
The Portland Art Camp is open to all of Metro Louisville for Middle School aged kids. Students will learn creative thinking, problem solving skills, and team building through the arts. This 2 week camp spends 4 hours a day (10am - 2pm) giving students the resources they need to get inspired by the arts and learn from working artists.
The "Majors:" Monday- Thurs: Students pick 2 disciplines and spend 1.5 hours in each discipline learning terms, techniques, and practice in custom curriculums designed by the artists, themselves.
The "Minors:" Both Fridays are elective days featuring classes such as pottery, painting, and acting among others. These days are focused on broadening horizons and developing empathy as well as a sense of accomplishment.
Team Building: Each day, students will spend time creatively problem solving as teams and working together with their camp mates to develop a sense of community and team work.
The Capstone Gala Night: Through the course of the camp, students will plan, develop and execute several projects. The camp concludes with a Gala Night at Portland's Lytle Street Church where students will showcase their work. This night is open to all and is sure to be a night to remember!
